It is interesting that today’s sermon hit on something that I was guilty of just this morning. I opened my Bible looking for help with how to deal with a particular person. After reading several passages, it became very clear to me that THEY needed to read these Scriptures. I found all kinds of Scripture that pertained to what I viewed as their sin. Then the Lord revealed my sin to me and frankly it frightened me. I was somehow, as Mark said today, filtering the Word of God so …

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
Such a simple Scripture but one that excites me every time I read it. “Delight” in this verse is a verb meaning to take great pleasure (verb). Then I checked out “delight” as a noun and found its meaning to be a high degree of gratification; joy; extreme satisfaction (noun). It is one of my favorite words!
But today, as I was studying the meaning of this word, I discovered that a synonym for delight is …

In Luke 24:13-30 Jesus appears to two believers traveling on the road.
27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and …

There has been a reoccurring question in Mark’s sermons the last couple of weeks that has really struck a nerve with me.  Do you know Jesus? What do you mean …do I know Jesus??? My reaction has been anywhere from flippant (of course I know HIM)… to seriously? you are asking this again?…to angry (YES for crying out loud I know HIM!)…to sobbing uncontrollably (do I know you Lord???)…A wide range of emotions to such a simple question. So for two weeks I have asked myself everyday…Do I know Jesus?
It …

Hebrews 3:12-13
“See to it brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
To me this is what Life Groups at The Summit are all about – encouraging one another through sharing our trials and victories with one another. Last night, The Power of the Praying Wife members had the pleasure …

Lots of opportunities have evolved out of our partnership with Ray of Hope Ministries and Pastor Hummer Ochim in Uganda. A team is gearing up to go again in January where they will serve in building a church and school facility. The team will go prepared to supply eyeglasses to those in need and our own pastor will be visiting the church plants there in Uganda. In our partnership with Ray of Hope, we have been blessed with the opportunity to generously give monthly support to the widows, teachers, students …

I stood at my door looking outside while my life group stood around the fire pit.  It had been a tough week on all of us.  We are doing the study Life’s Healing Choices and we had just finished doing a moral inventory of our lives.  This means that “I openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.”  It’s the coming clean choice.  Quote from the study:  The truth is that guilt hinders you from becoming all God wants you to be.  Guilt …

I heard in a sermon recently “Jesus did not suffer so that you would not suffer.  Jesus suffered so that, when you suffer, you might become more like Him.”
We are all going to suffer…if you haven’t suffered, you will suffer.  What if you viewed your suffering as a gift instead of a curse?  We need to get it that we were made for God’s glory.   What would change for you if you viewed every situation, every conversation, every decision, every step of every day as a chance to bring glory …

You’ve had it marked on your calendar for some time now…the day your special guest is arriving, someone you love dearly and have not seen in years…you are so excited…because today is the day they are to arrive…Finally the day is here…you spring out of bed…you spend the time you have left getting ready, preparing and waiting expectantly….full of joy…
What if…you woke up every day with the attitude “what if today’s the day???…what if today is the day I get to see Jesus face to face…this could be the day…we …

The Lord has been bringing to my attention that I talk too much.  That even hurts to type the words.  I feel offended.  Me?  Really?  Talk too much?  So I press on to find other problems to deal with (because I have quite the buffet of them) and it seems every book I touch…every Scripture I read…every sermon I listen to…the same thing…so here I sit, thinking “I don’t want to deal with this Lord!”  “I don’t think I really want to hear what you have to say about it…BUT …
