Compromise?
We just finished the “Tough Questions” series. I have to say, we finished with some of the hardest sermons I have ever preached. This last week, speaking about divorce, was emotionally exhausting. It is such a personal topic that has touched every one of us in a very real way. I have asked God over and over this week, “What could I have done to soften this? How could I represent You better?”
What I heard from Him was both hard to hear and very freeing. I have not been authorized to negotiate on His behalf. It is not my place to find a compromise between our sin and His Word. My only authority is to teach His Word to His Church.
Where do we go from here? I would suggest that you take your tough questions to the One with all the answers. He knows the details. He knows your struggles. He knows where you are coming from. He knows what’s best for you. Get personal with God. Lay your toughest question at His feet. Open your Bible. Be ready for the answer, even if your tough question comes with a tough answer, be ready to learn from Him.
