Most of the time I do a pretty good job of beating my political side into submission. God has called me to a role that has little to do with politics. The model I see in scripture, the example of Jesus is to make disciples on a personal level, teaching them to do the same. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the world is changed from individual up. We don’t change the leader with hopes of the people following, we change people and the leader can’t help but follow. I believe this model is the only hope for our nation and the world. I am thankful for our system and I will continue to vote and to encourage others to vote with a Christian, no, a disciple’s world view.

There is a lot of discussion happening right now of which candidate is more Christian. Which one panders best to the religious right? I’m sick of that. It is meaningless. Jesus offers two categories, a disciple and everyone else. All the candidates are dancing around with labels. Please these guys without ticking those guys off and tomorrow we switch. I’ll drop the word Christian but only if no one is offended by it. Jesus said something about that when He was teaching what it means to be a disciple.

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. Luke 9:24

A disciple of Jesus Christ will boldly proclaim salvation in Jesus alone. He will shout the name above all names even if that means losing his life and certainly his political life. I don’t care if the label is Christian, Mormon, Moslem, whatever, not one candidate has acted like a disciple of Jesus. That puts them all in the “everyone else” category. They have had opportunity to speak the truth and they have skirted around it. Is THE truth in any one of them?

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

I pray that, if there is a disciple among the candidates, he will step up and let his words and actions prove him. I could get excited about that guy.
